    Sept. 2-3, 2010 — The Ivano-Frankivsk Strategic Planning Committee tackled the job of drafting the city’s new strategy at a Stakhanovite pace, dealing with quite a number of agenda items and coming up with a strategic vision and mission of Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as its development priorities.

    Crimean and Simferopol Permit-Issuing One-Stop Shop Inaugurated

    Sept. 2, 2010 — Crimean Council of Ministers Chairman Vasyl Dzharty cut the ribbon on the entry to the Crimean Republican and Simferopol City Permit-Issuing One-Stop Shop, which is established with assistance from USAID. USAID LINC Project Chief of Party Howard Ockman participated in the inauguration ceremony, and welcomed the audience of officials, entrepreneurs, and media people.

    USAID LINC CoP Meets Crimean Deputy Premier

    Sept. 2, 2010 — USAID LINC Project Chief of Party Howard Ockman visited the Crimean Council of Ministers to meet the Council of Ministers Deputy Chairwoman, Kateryna Yurchenko. Ms. Yurchenko thanked USAID LINC for their attention to Crimea’s problems and invited Mr. Ockman to participate in the Coordinating Council for drafting a Strategy of Social and Economic Development of Crimea for 2010–2020.

    Amendments Promulgated Adjusting Food Safety Requirements to Internationally Harmonized Standards

    Aug. 3, 2010 — The Uryadovy Kuryer newspaper published the Law “On Amending Some Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Issuance of Operating Permits.” The law, passed by Verkhovna Rada on July 6 and signed by President Yanukovych on July 26, 2010, is coming into force in 30 day of the publication.

    USAD LINC Conducts FDI Training Workshop in Odesa

    July 28-30, 2010 — USAID LINC delivered the third workshop, “Industrial zone – preparation and customizing the Product,” under the second cycle of its training program for local, regional, and central public officials and representatives of NGOs engaging in attraction of foreign direct investment (FDI). The event took place in Odesa – for the first time for the program to hold a workshop outside the Kyiv Oblast.

    July 30, 2010 — USAID LINC in collaboration with the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Camber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine) and the Association of Exporters and Importers “ZED” held a seminar on “Customs Clearance of Hi-Tech and Industrial Equipment” for enterprises that need to clear equipment as well as auditors and brokers that serve such enterprises.
