Ivano-Frankivsk Sets to Drafting New Strategy with Assistance from USAID
Sept. 2-3, 2010 — The Ivano-Frankivsk Strategic Planning Committee tackled the job of drafting the city’s new strategy at a Stakhanovite pace, dealing with quite a number of agenda items and coming up with a strategic vision and mission of Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as its development priorities.
At the meetings facilitated by USAID LINC, the committee discussed an economic profile of the region and a report on business attitude survey, both presented by USAID LINC, and the city government’s report on execution of the Ivano-Frankivsk Economic Development Strategic Plan, also hammered out with the USAID assistance in 2005.
Based upon the above discussions, the task force identified real sector investment attraction, small to medium business development, and creation of comfort living conditions as main directions of the city’s development, and decided that tourism, furniture making, and education and research will be the priority sectors of its economy. After that the committee formulated the strategic vision and mission of Ivano-Frankivsk and carried out a SWOT analysis.
