Expert Committee in Rivne Approves Draft Central Volyn Strategy
June 8, 2011 — At its extended meeting in Rivne, attended by representatives from the Rivne City Rada, the Expert Committee for Economic Development of the Central Volyn Sub-region approved draft sub-regional competitiveness strategy and decided to submit it for consideration of the Rada.
The decision was made upon presentation of the final draft by USAID LINC experts. Like it had been two weeks ago in Lutsk, a discussion that followed the presentation resulted in the approval without any amendments.
To become effective, the Central Volyn Sub-region Competitiveness and Economic Development Strategy is subject to adoption by the sub-region’s member communities, namely the cities of Rivne and Lutsk as well as the Rivne Oblast’s raions of Zdolbuniv and Rivne and the Volyn Oblast’s raions of Kivertsi and Lutsk.
The sub-regional strategy focuses on four critical issues, including attraction of investments; innovation and development of human potential; common projects in agribusiness, transport and logistics; and SME and business infrastructure.
USAID LINC assists in the strategic planning process based on a Protocol of Intentions signed in July 2010 with the leaders of the communities.
