June 22-23, 2011 — In Kherson and then Mykolaiv USAID LINC conducted workshops to train relevant officials from member communities of the Kherson-Mykolaiv Economic Sub-region in community profile preparation.
The training focused on an MS Excel-based template developed under an earlier USAID project for entering and processing statistical data and generating charts for a profile.
Preparation of a community profile is part of strategic planning efforts under the methodology applied by USAID LINC. The document contains statistics and explanatory texts pertinent to economic development of a city or a raion. It is used as a decision-making tool in strategic planning and management.

In sub-regional strategic planning, the data entered by individual member communities will be aggregated to produce a profile of the territory.
The Kherson-Mykolaiv Sub-region was formed on June 10, 2011, when USAID LINC and leaders of several communities signed a Protocol of Intentions to develop and implement a common strategy for sub-regional competitiveness and economic development. Besides the cities of Kherson and Mykolaiv, the sub-region comprises the raions of Bilozersk, Hola Prystan, and Tsyurupinsk in the Kherson Oblast, and Bashtanka, Zhovtneve, and Mykolaiv in the Mykolaiv Oblast.
