June 23, 2011 — The Kerch City Rada in Crimea approved the city’s tourist logo and slogan developed by a Kyiv-based creative agency on the initiative and with assistance from USAID LINC.
According to a press release by the agency, Lucid Ideas Workshop MeD, the logo allows for “singling out Kerch uniquely at both domestic and international tourist markets, and making foreign tourists, travelers and creative people interested in the history of the city.”
The press release quotes Kerch City Rada PR Department Director Olha Arkhypenko as saying that the logo will “help make a high-quality statement of the city at tourist exhibitions, cultural and business events, on specialized web sites, and in souvenir production.”
According to USAID LINC Crimea Field Director Jeffrey Luebbe, also quoted in the release, “Kerch is Crimea’s one of the most promising regions for developing event, recreational, and educational tourism.”
The logo, which depicts pillars of Panticapaeum, the antique Greek polis on the site of modern Kerch, also bears a slogan, “Kerch – City of Millenia.”
