Tavria Economic Region (Tavria Association of Territorial Communities)

The Implementation Committee of the Tavria Association of Territorial Communities, Kherson Oblast, met to report on activities in implementation of their Economic Development Strategic Plan developed under the USAID LED Project. At the session, representatives of the USAID LINC management presented potential areas of continued cooperation with the region, including support in Strategic Plan implementation, with a focus on riverside tourism development, engagement in investment project searches and coordination of agriculture and tourism development activities with the LINC Crimean initiative.

A Resolution on Operations of the Tavria Economic Development Coordination Council was signed by the members of Tavria Communities Association (the economic sub-region in Kherson that includes Kakhovka city and raion, Beryslav city and raion, and the cities of Nova Kakhovka and Tavriysk).

Sep. 24, 2010 — The Tavrian Territorial Communities Association’s Tourist Information Center – the first TIC in the Kherson Oblast – was opened in Nova Kakhovka with assistance from USAID LINC. The ribbon to the Tavrian TIC, located in the Oscar mall, was cut by Kherson Oblast Governor Mykola Kostyak and Nova Kakhovka Mayor Volodymyr Kovalenko.

September 12-13, 2011, Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast — Brand Development Workshop: train officials and business representatives in the Tavria Association of Territorial Communities in methodology for development of sub-regional investment brands.

September 23-24, 2011, Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast — USAID LINC conducted three workshops and a round table, and supported a wine festival within the framework of the International Investment Forum “Tavrian Horizons: Appeal, Cooperation, Investment, and Economic Development.”

November 14, 2011, Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast — USAID LINC facilitated a focus group meeting to present a summary of previous discussions on future brand of the Tavria Association of Territorial Communities and agree on required technical inputs for sub-regional brand development terms of reference.
