October 7, 2011, Sevastopol / October 11, 2011, Simferopol, Crimea — USAID LINC in conjunction with the Crimean Hospitality Association conducted one-day workshops for a total of 45 managers representing Crimean travel companies and accommodation facilities.

September 29, 2011, Sevastopol/Kyiv — One of three Sevastopol-based investment projects sponsored by USAID LINC was scored as the best by about a hundred of business angels who attended a meeting of the Startup.UA Club of Private Investors in Kyiv. A total of 14 projects were presented that evening by their owners.

September 23-25, 2011, Sevastopol — USAID LINC cosponsored the VII Sevastopol International Film Festival, which wrapped up the city’s festival summer and marked the 100th anniversary of the Defense of Sevastopol movie – the first feature film produced in the Russian Empire.

July 25, 2011 — In Sevastopol, USAID LINC delivered training and consultation in business-planning to investment project owners from Sevastopol-based companies. The training was carried out within the framework of USAID LINC assistance to the city in preparation for the Sevastopol Investment Forum.

May 14, 2011 — USAID LINC conducted a promo tour for 19 Crimean tour operators and agents to familiarize them with new tourist attractions in the Sevastopol region. The tour included visiting the private Museum of Art, Culture and Life of Western Ukraine in the village of Chornorichya, Balaklava Raion, and the Eco-Park “Lukomorye” with its Marmalade Museum, Crocodile Farm, and Paradise Garden.

April 29, 2011 — USAID LINC carried out a presentation of new tourist attractions located in the city of Sevastopol for Crimean tour operators and agencies. The participants visited the Sevastopol National University of Nuclear Energy and Industry, the Sevastopol History Museum, and a number of war memorials. Some of the attractions once were restricted areas.

March 17, 2011 — In Sevastopol, USAID LINC gave an examination to participants in the training carried out by the project for English-speaking tourist guides.

March 16 and 19, 2011 — In Sevastopol on March 16 and three days later in Simferopol, USAID LINC carried out training sessions on “International Standards of Hospitality Centers in Tourism Sector.”

March 9-15, 2011 — In Sevastopol, USAID LINC conducted a six-day training course for English-speaking tourist guides from this city and the Yalta area of Crimea.

Feb. 21-22, 2011 — In Sevastopol, USAID LINC conducted the third two-day workshop of a training program in foreign direct investment (FDI) designed for this Crimean city. The trainees include representatives from the Sevastopol City State Administration’s investment department, rayon Radas, the Communal Enterprise “Agency for Economic Development,” and universities.

Jan. 24-25, 2011 — In Sevastopol, USAID LINC in conjunction with its local counterpart, the Foundation “Sevastopol” (agency for economic development and investment attraction), carried out the second of three workshops of a training program in foreign direct investment (FDI) designed for this Crimean city.

Jan. 17, 2011 — A task force in Sevastopol at its final, fourth, meeting wrapped up all discussions on what Sevastopol’s investment brand should be like by summarizing findings of the group’s preceding brainstorming sessions.

Jan. 17, 2011 — The Sevastopol City State Administration issued an order that established its Permitting One-Stop Shop (OSS) and eliminated certain difficulties that lack of a clear legal status had created in its operation.

Jan. 11, 2011 — A task force in Sevastopol identified unique features of the city, its rivals, words that characterize it best, and existing symbols that could be associated with Sevastopol’s investment image, as well as profile of potential investors and their motives for investing.

Dec. 23, 2010 — Facilitated by USAID LINC, a task force in Sevastopol at its second meeting continued the process of creating an investment brand of the city, launched a week ago, by brainstorming assets of the city, characteristics of welcomed investments and investor’s profile.

Nov. 18-19, 2010 — USAID LINC in conjunction with the Sevastopol Chamber of Commerce organized and carried out training on “The Special Features of Marketing and Sales of Conference Services by Hotels.” The attendees included managers and directors of hotels located in the Sevastopol area.

July 16, 2010 — USAID LINC in collaboration with Sevastopol Fund held a round table on Problems and Perspectives of Tourism Development in Sevastopol. Participants in the event – tour operators, tour agents, and other relevant stakeholders – discussed the problems and potential of tourism development in the city, creation of a tourist web-site, and LINC plans in the region’s tourism sector.

June 21, 2010 — The Sevastopol City State Administration launched a permit-issuing one-stop shop – Single Permit Center – gathering administrators from the city’s four raions and representatives from various permit-issuing agencies under one roof.

2009-12-15 - The Sevastopol City Rada finally adopted the Investment Attraction Strategic Plan drafted in 2008 with assistance and under the guidance of the USAID Local Economic Development (LED) project, the predecessor of LINC. In February 2009, the Sevastopol City State Administration approved the plan, and thus its implementation began

The core of the Sevastopol investment attraction strategy consists of two action plans: (a) Attraction of Investment to the City's Real Economy, and (b) Development and Diversification of Tourism in the City.
